Halvin began as more than just a meme coin—it was a deeply personal journey for its creator, Rui, and his beloved dog, Alvin.
Adopted from a shelter after losing his mother at a young age, Alvin formed a profound bond with Rui, who worked from home and spent countless hours by his side.

Rui first envisioned creating a meme coin in late 2023, drawing inspiration from his dog, Alvin.
The name Alvin had been chosen by his daughter, who was a devoted fan of Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Looking for a fun way to combine the concept of Bitcoin’s halving with his beloved pet’s name, Rui arrived at the name “Halvin.”
He then turned to Chat GPT to craft the narrative behind Halvin.meme, while OpenArt’s AI provided the visuals.

Throughout 2024, Rui worked tirelessly—launching a website, building social media channels, shaping tokenomics, writing a whitepaper, and strategizing marketing.
By mid-December 2024, they were ready to unveil the presale.
However, life took a heartbreaking turn.
On December 20, Alvin suddenly stopped eating and began vomiting, prompting emergency vet visits. Diagnosed with pancreatitis and severe liver complications, he was hospitalized, then briefly rallied and returned home on December 26.
But when his condition deteriorated again, doctors discovered an aggressive form of liver cancer, leaving Rui with a painful decision: pursue risky treatments with slim odds or bring Alvin home to spend his final days in comfort.
Amid Halvin’s presale launch, Rui chose to prioritize Alvin’s well-being despite the emotional strain. Even as Alvin grew weaker, he remained a source of love and resilience.

On January 9—the day a significant Halvin press release went live—Alvin ventured out for a walk. His illness took essential steps during the previous two days, and it was very tough for him to walk at this point.

The video below was made on January 4th, our last walk on the beach, when he still had strength and happiness, reflecting how much he adored being outdoors with his family.

Seeing Alvin’s courage fortified Rui’s resolve to give back. If Halvin succeeds as a Memecoin project, he plans to propose to Halvin’s community that they use some of the profits from the presale (tokens are launched by the end of January) or change the tokenomics to have a percentage to support animal shelters or create a dedicated foundation for sick, abandoned, or elderly dogs.
It would be a lasting tribute to Alvin’s impact on Rui’s life and a testament to the strength and love their bond continues to inspire.

UPDATE: January 15, 2025
Alvin is increasingly weak and challenging to walk, and his walks were the best part of the day. Yesterday, he had to lie down and rest during the walk.
He has more difficulty in breathing and does not eat much.
Today, Alvin will go to the hospital to see how he is; his family doesn’t want him to suffer too much.
UPDATE: January 17, 2025
Today, Alvin found peace. His ongoing battle with liver cancer and respiratory challenges left him too weak to continue, and the most loving decision was to let him rest. While our hearts are heavy, we believe Alvin is now pain-free, looking over his family from beyond. He gave us his endless loyalty and companionship, and in return, we will honor his memory with gratitude and love. May he forever live on in our hearts and in every cherished moment we shared.

Condolences, I’m so sorry about Alvin. I have a dog that’s diabetic and has lost their vision. I hope you find comfort and success in the future.
Thank you Nick. Make the most of it, while you have yours.
